Biblical Love within Marriage

What does it look like when we apply the command to love our neighbor as ourselves to a spouse? We are only human but sometimes people treat spouses like they are supposed to fulfill them in a way that only God can. Love will not hold people to impossible standards.

Unlimited Faith in God’s Word

The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Every day our society, culture, and event around the world challenge if God exist or if the bible is true. Is it possible to have faith in any god, let alone the God of Israel from the bible in a fallen, dangerous world, growing ever more secular?

Iron Rod – Gun Cult Theology

There are some ministries so obsessed with guns that it has become a theological point for them. One, in particular, claimed that the “rod of iron” mentioned in Psalm 2:8-9 and Rev 2:27 is a reference to guns specifically AR-15s. This church leader teaches that Jesus is going to come back with a gun and that his people will use guns to fight the forces of evil, so his members are training for Jesus’ return. They also wear crowns made of bullets in reference to what Jesus says in Rev 3:11, but in context, it is a metaphor for righteousness.

God’s Protection Promise

There is a lot of fear-mongering going around. How are Christians supposed to react to things that are out of their control? If the food supply is poisoned or if mass inflation is happening, can Christians count on God?

What is Testing God?

What does it mean to test God? In Matt 4:5-7 when Satan is tempting Jesus he tells Jesus to jump off of the Temple and says that God should protect him. Then Satan quotes Psalms 91:11-12, which says, “It is written: ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” Jesus responds in verse 7 by saying, “It is also written: ‘You must not test the Lord your God.”

Is God’s Truth Relative?

Some people believe truth is relative and that everyone can have their own “truth” even though it contradicts another thing. However, the truth is not true if isn’t consistent and grounded so that can’t be true. What happens when two truths contradict each other? How can computer technology even work if true and false are relative and interchangeable? Computers work with circuits built on logic gates with binary switches, something has to be true or false in order for a program to determine which method to use under certain conditions. Where does truth come from? One answer would be God, but how do we define God?

God’s Plans for You

Sometimes when people quote Jeremiah 29:11 they don’t fully understand what it means. Some people will say God knows the plans he has for us so he’s going to make our plans work out. That’s actually not the case. In that verse, it says God knows the plans HE has for us, so this is not about our plans but his. This likely may come from people reading partial quotes of this scripture from memes on social media rather than reading in context as a whole verse.

Truly Loving God

People often talk about how much God loves them, but do they ever love him back? If you don’t have time for him, then you don’t love him, because we make time for the people we love. If you don’t keep his commandments then you don’t love him, because we will do anything for the ones we love. Jesus even said, “if you love me you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

Command: You Shall Not Lie

Is lying a sin? Yes, but oftentimes some people point out biblical characters “lying” and not getting punished for it. Or use it to personally attack people for saying something untrue without examining their motives. Some have claimed that it was lying when King Solomon threatened to cut a child in half to reveal who the real mother was. Or that God lied when he told Abraham he wanted Isaac to be sacrificed. God also threatened to kill the Israelites and start over with Moses but didn’t follow through with it, did he lie? The real questions are, what is a lie, and why is it a sin?
