Look at the world around us from a biblical world view as opposed to a secular one or alone with an alternative theology.
Do faraway stars prove that the universe is billions of years old? Doesn’t that conflict with the Bible? Has the speed of light always been the fastest thing in the universe? It is possible that the speed of light is not truly known? Was it always a constant, or could it have been briefly faster than it was now?
Continue readingSome Bible objectors argue that the existence of asexuality in nature proves that sex/gender is fluid and the Bible is wrong about sex/gender being binary. Does what animals do have anything to do with what humans do? The Bible says that humans are designed explicitly as male and female (Gen 1:28, Gen 2:24). There are intersex people, but those are outliers caused by mutations. If every person in the next generation were intersex and potentially sterile because of it, we would be facing potential extinction as a species. Therefore, humans are designed to reproduce sexually, and anything that hinders that is unnatural and against the system God set up for us.
Continue readingDid God make everything in six days? Are the days of creation equal to thousands of years? The Hebrew word for “day” is “Yom” (יוֹם), and it consistently means a literal day throughout the Bible, so it never equals anything else. The word “Yom” doesn’t change meaning in Gen 1:14 when the sun, moon, and stars were created on day four. Some believers interpret the days as thousands of years, while others suggest that each day is equivalent to two billion years. They are trying to syncretize the Bible with naturalism, which is a secular alternative to creation that denies God’s creative supernatural ability. Scripture doesn’t fit with the billions of years model. One would have to say the Earth took billions of years to rotate back then and then sped up to 24 hours sometime afterward. Is that even compatible with what the biblical authors believed?
Continue readingWhat was the light before the sun in Genesis ch.1? The Bible teaches that there was light for daytime on the first three days of creation week, and the celestial bodies (sun, moon, and stars) weren’t made until day four. Isaiah 60:19-20 and Revelation 21:22-26 state that at the end, when God creates a new world, there will be no sun, moon, or stars, and that God will illuminate the universe with His glory. So things return to the way they were before Creation Day 4, as described in Genesis 1.
Continue readingThe Bible states that all people are part of one human race, and the nations (ethnic groups) were initially divided by their languages (Genesis 11), rather than being genetically distinct original creations. Therefore, we are all genetically one kind of creature since we are all descendants of Adam. Race theory was created as a justification for colonialism and slavery by Europeans in the 1400s. Our cultural and ethnic differences are social constructs that can be highlighted by but are not exclusively linked to our genetic differences. A child born in one culture can be raised in another culture and adopt that language and culture without significant interference from their genetic background. Dust, dirt, soil, and sand come in various colors, including red, brown, white, yellow, and black. The Bible says that Adam (as well as the animals) was made from dirt (Gen 2:7-20). When a person dies, their body returns to the earth (Gen 3:19). Having different colors is a natural part of the capabilities of the material that we are made of, so God clearly has no problem with diversity, as many species of plants and animals exhibit variations. There is no segregation in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Theological evolution denies the biblical concept of God being immutable and denies the sufficiency of scripture. Naturalists use the idea of macro-evolution to obviate God, so including God is to them both unnecessary and contradictory to their beliefs. Naturalism says that the Bible’s limited age for the earth is incorrect and that it took millions of years for everything to form from nothing. No naturalist would agree that the Bible is true, but saying that the days of creation are allegories for millions of years would be seen as a cop-out for Christians from believing what the Bible teaches.
Continue readingIs the universe random, or does God uphold and orchestrate things, as the Bible says He does? Randomness is a term used to describe things that are unpredictable to the human mind. However, the laws of physics are consistent enough that things don’t just happen for no reason.
Continue readingThe Bible doesn’t specifically side with one or the other, and scriptures are often taken out of context to suggest that the earth is explicitly flat or round. I believe in a round Earth because the flat Earth model has observable, testable scientific problems. I don’t get how day and night cycle like time zones (it’s night in Asia when it’s daytime in the Americas) work on a flat earth. The Moon reflects the Sun’s light. It can’t do that if the whole Earth experiences night and day at the same time, because we wouldn’t be able to see the Moon if the Sun sets beneath the Earth at night. Also, the seasons are opposite in the northern and southern hemispheres because of the tilt of the Earth. Wouldn’t a flat disk cause a consistent global climate? In addition, how do eclipses work in the Flat Earth model? I’m sure a flat-earth believer has some answers to those questions, but I don’t see any flaws in the round-earth model that need to be fixed in the first place.
Continue readingAccording to Joshua 10:12-14, Joshua was at war and asked God for more daylight by praying that the Sun and Moon would “stand still”. We can interpret this literally as the Sun and Moon standing still, but that wouldn’t be correct from an astronomical perspective. The Sun does move relative to the solar system; however, since the Earth is parented to the Sun via its orbit around the Sun, the Sun is already still relative to the Earth’s movement. The Moon does move relative to the Earth, but it takes a month, not a day. So, God stopping the movement of the Sun and Moon wouldn’t have made a difference in daylight since the day-night cycle is governed by Earth’s self-rotation on its own axis and not the movements of the Sun and Moon. How should we interpret this?
Continue readingCreationism is the scientific framework for what the Bible teaches that the world was created the way God says it was. There are different flavors of creationism for Christianity and other Abrahamic religions. For example, Old Earth Creationism tries to fit millions of years into Genesis by reinterpreting the 7 days of creation into millions of years, but that is not consistent with the sabbath being based on a literal 7th day of creation. Then there’s Gap theory which says that there was a gap of time between Genesis 1 and 2 where a bunch of events happened regarding Satan falling and maybe dinosaurs getting killed. However, that one has its own flaws and issues like how the creation of light initiated on the day part of day one, yet this Gap happens before day one? Were dinosaurs walking around in the dark? Day one is the creation of light itself, then the Sun, Moon, and Stars were made on Day 4, so there was no light until Day one which is after Genesis 1:2.
